EXPERIMENTAL
TYPOGRAPHY.
In this experimental typography poster, I visually interpreted the iconic dialogue “അടിച്കേറി വാ” from the Malayalam movie Jalolsavam. The phrase, often delivered in a playful, energetic tone, was chosen for its bold, fun spirit, representing the typical lively banter in Kerala’s local culture. To reflect this, I used a bold red typeface, tilted and staggered to convey action and movement, matching the playful yet commanding nature of the dialogue. The coconut trees and toddy shop illustration help ground the design in a distinct Kerala setting, giving cultural authenticity to the phrase. I used a halftone texture in the background to add depth without distracting from the typography. The combination of flat vector visuals and textured overlays creates a layered, dynamic feel, mimicking the lively energy of the dialogue itself. Through this project, I explored how typography can convey tone and regional character, not just meaning. The playful spirit of the dialogue is visually amplified, demonstrating how experimental typography can blend narrative, cultural identity, and visual rhythm into a cohesive design.
